Student Support - Bullying Policy

 

Gosford High School has zero tolerance for bullying in all forms, and aims to eliminate bullying of any person at the school by developing a school environment which promotes tolerance and respect, and accepts differences in others. It is the responsibility of students, staff, families and the community to contribute to the development of a safe, happy school, based on the principle that bullying will not be accepted.
 
School Staff have a responsibility to:
·         promote and maintain respectful relationships and support students.
·         model and promote appropriate behaviour.
·         know and support the school’s anti-bullying policies, procedures and practices
·         ensure that curriculum materials and educational resources are non-discriminatory
·         respond to all incidents of bullying
·         be aware of and apply complaints procedures appropriately
·         to report perpetrators and victims of bullying to the relevant Year Adviser for follow up/monitoring. (Deputy, HT Welfare or Year Adviser to inform Counsellor of all major concerns).
·         provide curriculum and pedagogy that supports students to develop an understanding of bullying and its impact on individuals and the broader community.
 
Responsibilities of students:
        promote and maintain respectful relationships
        behave appropriately as responsible digital citizens
        know and support the school’s anti-bullying policies, procedures and practices
        behave as responsible bystanders
·         be aware of and use complaints procedures appropriately.
·         report incidents of bullying according to GHS anti-bullying plan
 
Responsibilities of parents/caregivers:
·         support their children to become responsible citizens and to develop responsible online behaviour
·         report incidents of school related bullying behaviour to the school
·         be aware of and support Gosford High School’s anti-bullying policies, procedures and practices
·         support their children in developing positive responses to incidents of bullying consistent with Gosford High School’s Anti-bullying policy
·         work collaboratively with the school to resolve incidents of bullying when they occur.
 
Responsibilities of the school community
All members of the school communityhave the responsibility to:
·         model and promote positive relationships that respect and accept individual differences and diversity within the school community
·         support the school’s Anti-bullying Plan through words and actions
·         work collaboratively with the school to resolve incidents of bullying when they occur.
